Green Works Summer Twilight Meeting – Marijke’s Perennial Garden Plus

Join Marijke Niles, owner and creator of Marijke’s Perennial Gardens Plus for a tour of the 40 some gardens located on an 8 acre property in her spectacular mountainous setting at 1500 feet altitude. The plantings are wildlife friendly and attract large numbers of birds, bees and beneficial insects and an occasional moose and fox. The gardens are low maintenance with a large number of nature nourishing native plants and hardy succulents.  Don’t miss the quilt! It contains 80 varieties of sempervivum and jovibarba.

Marijke grows a large variety of small fruits, and Mother Nature permitting you may be able to taste fresh gooseberries. There will be samples of last season˙s black currant and gooseberry jam. The gardens are set against a huge glacial erratic rock with many smaller rocks put to creative use.

Marijke and her husband Price invite anyone interested to picnic in the gardens before the meeting begins. There are a variety of  “rooms” to dine. Field- grown hardy perennials will be available for sale before and after the meeting.
