Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity Project
The VNLA/Green Works established the Volunteer Project/Outreach Committee (VPOC) in February, 2018 and chose to work with Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity (GMHH) because we believe in their mission to provide affordable housing and because landscaping is an area that is often overlooked and/or underfunded on much housing of this nature. The VPOC completed the landscape design / installation project in July, 2018 at a four family home located in Essex Junction, VT.
We set our sites on Project #2 earlier this year on a two-family duplex located in Milton, VT. You can view an interview with one of the homeowners here:.

The VPOC collaborated over late winter/spring with Vermont Technical College students in the Landscape Sustainable Design program. Students visited the site and in April, 2019 presented their landscape plan to the VPOC.
This year's project is located at at 24 Railroad Street, Milton, VT. The landscape installation took place on Thursday, October 3, 2019. We had over 50 people volunteer that day, including VNLA members, VTC students and faculty, and Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity volunteers.
The donations of the stone, pavers, perennials, shrubs, trees, wildflower seed, compost bins, lumber, bark mulch and top soil were all donated and many thanks to our members and associates who made this project a reality. Please see the list of donors below. You can view the slideshow of this volunteer project below.
