Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity Collaboration

The VNLA/Green Works established the Volunteer Project/Outreach Committee (VPOC) in February, 2018 and chose to collaborate with Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity (GMHH) because we believe in their mission to provide affordable housing and because landscaping is an area that is often overlooked and/or underfunded on much housing of this nature.   The VPOC completed its first landscape design / installation project in July, 2018 at a four family home located in Essex Junction, VT.  You can view a slideshow of that project below.

Project #2 was completed in the Fall of 2019.  It was a two-family duplex located in Milton, VT.  You can view an interview with one of the homeowners, read more about the project and view the slideshow below.

Project #3 was put on hold in 2020 due to the pandemic.  The Committee began their work on the 2021 project last winter by visiting the site and then brainstorming the landscape design process.  During this process the committee makes many site visits and works closely with GMHH.  This project was a four-plex located in S. Burlington, VT and the housing was completed this summer and the families have moved in.  The landscape/installation was completed on October 9, 2021. We had over 30 people volunteer that day, including VNLA members, UVM students and faculty, and Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity volunteers.

The donations of perennials, shrubs, trees, compost bins, compost, bark mulch, top soil, equipment, trucking and deliver, tools, and labor were all donated and many thanks to our members and associates who made this project a reality. Please see the list of donors below.   You can view the slideshow of this volunteer project below.

THANK YOU to all our members and associates who donated materials to make this project a realitiy!   THANK YOU to all our volunteers on the day of installation as this project could not have been completed without you!  The donors and volunteers are listed below.
