Green Works Event – A Day and Evening with Adrian Bloom

Come spend the day or evening

University of Vermont
Davis Center

This event will intrigue and excite gardeners to think more creatively about perennials and grasses and how to use them in the year round garden, particularly with other plants. As chairman of Blooms Nurseries, Ltd., near Norfolk, England, Adrian Bloom has personally introduced many American gardeners to the unique varieties of perennials for which he and his father, Alan (1906-2005) are internationally known.

Adrian Bloom has travelled the world looking for new plants, as well as lecturing all around the world. He holds the Royal Horticultural Society’s coveted Victoria Medal of Honour for service to horticulture.

Green Works is pleased to host Adrian Bloom during his visit to Vermont.

10:30 – 11:30 am – Lecture

Adrianʼs theme for his morning lecture is based on his new book, Blooms Best Perennials and Grasses: Expert Plant Choices and Dramatic Combinations for Year Round Gardens. This presentation is geared toward both the expert and beginner gardener, giving some novel ideas on design and use of plants to fit every size garden. His belief that ʻless is moreʼ is the key in the selection of plants.

11:30 – 1pm – Book signing and lunch

1:00 – 2:00 pm – Lecture

Creating drama across Continents, Adrianʼs second lecture will offer some amusing historical images of the road that led to Bressingham Garden plantings at Elm Bank, headquarters of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society followed by a question and answer session.

5:00 – 7:00 pm – Evening Reception

Join Adrian Bloom and host Green Works at an evening reception at Rocky Dale Gardens, Bristol, VT for an informal, intimate gathering. The reception is limited to 75 people and is a fundraiser for Green Works scholarship program.
