The Weights & Measures Section of the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets is conducting multiple scale inspection events across the state for individuals who utilize scales at farmers’ markets or farm stands to sell produce or other commodities. Compliance with scale testing and licensing regulations is mandated by law.

Interested parties are required to complete an application form before attending the inspection events, enabling the Agency to conduct inspections efficiently and with minimal disruption.

Participants are advised to bring their legal-for-trade scales and any associated accessories for weighing items. No prior appointment is necessary; attendees can easily identify the inspection areas by looking for the yellow “Scale Check Here” signs. Each scale inspection typically lasts between 5 to 10 minutes.
